A new month, a new sustainable mobility company that previews its vision of the zero-emissions world, right? Not quite, because we already met Alpha Motor Corporation during December 2020’s introduction of the cutesy Alpha ACE Coupe. We said it at the time and we say it again now: it kind of reminds us of the retrolicious Honda Sports EV Concept from 2017, and that's a good thing.
Anyways, it’s way better to revisit a startup EV automaker that doesn’t have any visions of grandiose hypercars than something like the Elation Freedom... Now, Alpha just gave us the perfect excuse to ogle once more at the clean retro-yet-modern lines of the ACE Coupe.

Just a few weeks after the initial premiere of the “quintessential urban electric vehicle set to transform zero emission mobility,” Alpha now shares the hot take on being eco-friendly, the ACE Coupe Performance Edition. Have you noticed the “aerodynamic modification package” or the cockpit’s door straps just yet?

We certainly did, and although it would have been hard to imagine a way of improving upon the cutesy design of the 4,180-mm (164.5-in) long ACE Coupe, the Alpha designers and engineers clearly did an outstanding job. Better yet, we should emphasize the work of the latter, because the performance credentials are at least as impressive as the styling.

The standard Coupe comes with pretty neat tech details on its own, including a 250-mile (402-km) range, single-motor RWD powertrain, and a sprint to 60 mph (96 kph) in just 6 seconds. Better yet, the pricing ranges between $32 and $39k, and cargo capacity stands at more than 14 cubic feet (around 400 liters).

Now, things get even better with a minimum of hustle. The range does come down a little bit to 220 miles (354 km), but it’s a trade-off we’d be willing to take in a heartbeat. That’s because the Performance Edition morphs into a dual-motor AWD pocket rocket EV that will jump to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and silently thunder up to a maximum of 124 mph (200 kph).

Alpha also promises it will roll out even more ACE Coupe versions in the coming months, but unfortunately hasn’t provided any pricing specifications for the Performance Edition.
