The battle in the superbike class just got fiercer with the upgrades the BMW S1000RR received and with the advent of the new R1 machines, so Kawasaki could not afford being the one left behind.
Two new bikes made it to the EICMA these days, the Ninja ZX-10R and the Ninja ZX-10R KRT Replica. A bit disappointing, if you ask us, because we were expecting to see the Kawasaki Racing Team Replica showing off more than a cool-looking livery.

Too bad as the two bikes are exactly the same, with the two tech spec sheets matching to perfection. Both machines pack 200 PS at 13,000 rpm and are able to produce 210 PS maximum power with RAM Air. The peak torque of 113.5 Nm (83.6 lb-ft) is reached at 11,500, so if you want to have real fun aboard the liter-class Ninja, you'll have to keep the revs rather close to the redline.

For 2016, the Ninja ZX-10R gained some 5 kilos (11 lbs), but this is only a statistic fact, as casual riders will hardly be able to spot the difference.

The closest machine to the WSBK-spec ones

Kawasaki says that the 2016 Ninja ZX-10R is the closest thing to a WSBK beast. Both bikes are equipped with premium Brembo M50 monobloc calipers that squeeze 330mm rotors.

Showa supplies the 43 mm inverted Balance Free Front Fork with external compression chamber, compression and rebound damping, spring preload adjustability, and top-out springs. The rear suspension employs a fully-adjustable BFRC lite gas-charged shock with a piggyback reservoir.

The 2016 Ninja ZX-10R and its KRT Replica sibling received new cylinder heads and lighter internal parts, plus a new titanium exhaust as stock trim. Electronics include a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) from Bosch, clutchless downshifting, a race ECU, multiple settings for the launch control system and an electronic steering damper from Ohlins.

Forking out some extra money for the KRT decals or going for the base 2016 Ninja ZX-10R is up to you, but one thing is sure: we can't wait to see how the bike stacks against the competition!
