EICMA: 2016 Honda NC750X Shows Sharpened Looks and Several Upgrades

Even though NC750X fans could frown a bit reading this, we just have to say that the 2016 model year looks almost like the old Transalp should have looked if Honda hadn't sacked it.

The NC750X boasts a compact and robust attire, looking like the combination of a superbike and an enduro-travel one, at least up to a point. Honda revised the styling of the NC750X a bit, fitting the bike better into the big X picture.

A bit of edge and neat panel junctions seem to be a recipe Honda put its money on, and the result looks sleek, if a bit too "Transformer" and futuristic. The underseat fuel tank makes the sides of the bike look compact, and they integrate perfectly with the whole robust vibe of the machine.

The 745cc two-cylinder offers 55 hp at 6,250 rpm and 68 Nm (51 lb-ft) of torque at 4,750 rpm, more than enough oomph to move the bike in a sufficient manner.

New Showa suspensions and a taller windscreen make the NC750X more comfortable for the long hauls

Honda is still refraining to use USD forks for the 2016 MY NC750X, possibly because of cost reasons. Anyway, the suspension is not a department Honda is willing to overlook. The 2016 machine receives revised valving for the Showa fork and preload adjustability for the rear monoshock. The new forks are said to offer a more linear behavior for both compression and rebound, thus increasing the riding comfort.

The Sport mode of the DCT machine also incorporates the three S sub-modes that are also present on the Africa Twin, making the NC750X more compliant with various riders and riding scenarios.

The windscreen is now 70 mm (2.75") taller, and the luggage compartment, located where the fuel tank on most motorcycles is, was enlarged from 21 to 22 liters (5.8 gal). An LED headlight and matching taillights are also on the menu, plus a lighter silencer.
