The liter-class naked bike segment is coming back to life as the manufacturers who have such bikes in their line-ups are nowadays paying more attention to revising them. Triumph is not making an exception and brings a thoroughly updated Speed Triple at EICMA 2015.
The refreshed Speed Triple promises to be an even nimbler machine as the body is now narrower, thanks to a redesigned radiator that is smaller, yet more efficient. The 2016 Speed Triple also brings a heavily redesigned engine with new pistons and heads, a new combustion chamber and a new crank, plus new throttle bodies.

The Brits also updated the exhaust that now has increased flow and added new maps for the RbW system, claiming a 10% improvement in fuel economy. No less than five engine mappings can be selected, and they include Road, Rain, Sport, Track and even a custom mode that can be user-defined.

ABS, mode-linked traction control and aesthetic revisions

Radial Brembo monoblock calipers have been used for the dual front brakes, and the rider can choose to disengage the ABS system. Selectable traction control settings are on the menu, and they can also remain linked to the riding mode selected.

Daytime running lights, updated headlights, minor aesthetic changes in certain areas of the skimpy bodywork and a new seat that looks like a reinterpretation of the Daytona 657 R's can be seen in the 2016 edition of the Triumph Speed Triple.

Of course, the house of Hinckley prepared an R version of the Speed Triple, with the trademark red subframe. The R machine also comes with Ohlins suspension, NIX30, and TTX36 for the front and rear, respectively. Carbon fiber accents and red shrouds matching the subframe are also part of the game, alongside billet machined bits and pieces that are both functional and cool-looking. Overall, the new naked Triumph looks to have grown up.
