The retro aroma is more than strong at this year’s EICMA, with plenty of such creations waving their exhausts at us from all corners of the event. For now, we want to focus on the Suzuki booth and its Van Van 200.
It’s hard not to feel like it’s 1970 all over again when standing next to this bike, but don’t get your speeding hopes too high, since this is a 200cc contraption.

Forget BMW’s or Suzuki’s Scramblers, things go at a steady pace here, as Suzuki is using a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces around 16 hp (expected output) at 8,000 rpm at a peak torque of 11 lb-ft (15 Nm) at 6,500 rpm. Interestingly, Suzuki doesn’t mention anything about the required Euro 4 emission standard of the unit.

This incarnation of the bike is identical to the Van Van 125, which means the chassis is the one we’ve already seen. Nevertheless, the Suzuki uses larger tires, with a 130mm piece up front and an 180mm one at the back.

Despite the extra power, the rear brake still uses a drum and it will be interesting to see how Suzuki deals with the mandatory ABS (all bikes sold in Europe must have ABS starting from January 2016).

Here are the complete specs of the Suzuki Van Van 200:
