If Ferrari said it would never build an SUV, the Ferrari of motorbikes, Ducati, is doing just that with this new Multistrada 1200 Enduro - the company’s first maxi-enduro tourer.
However, the Italians are quick to point out that no compromise on Ducati’s style and technology has been made. The new motorcycle has been built specifically to handle the stress of off-road riding, while continuing to offer the ride quality and fun you would expect from a Ducati.

Its ability to cruise over a multitude of surfaces makes the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro perfect for long-distance adventures due to its electronic semi-active Sachs suspension both front and rear, and a high-capacity 30-liter fuel tank. This last feature enables the Multistrada 1200 Enduro to travel up to 280 miles (450 kilometers) on a full tank of gas, which will prove very useful in remote locations where fuel is harder to come by.

And the Multistrada 1200 Enduro will be perfectly capable of reaching those locations. It comes with a spoked 19” front wheel and 17” rear wheel, a hard-wearing Multistrada 1200 frame coupled with a twin-sided swingarm. The new Ducati maxi-enduro is powered by the 160 hp tried-and-tested Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine and is fitted with a new exhaust system. The “Multistrada” part of the name is reflected in the Riding Mode technology that allows the rider to choose from Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban modes, virtually transforming the 1200 Enduro into a 4-in-1 motorcycle.

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro is also equipped with a host of electronic aids, of which the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) distinguishes itself. Built by Bosch, this feature dynamically measures pitch and roll angles as well as acceleration along the three axes, which adds to the motorcycle’s performance and safety standards.

The list of three-lettered acronyms extends further with DCL (cornering lights), DTC (Ducati traction control), DWC (Ducati wheelie control), DSS (the semi-active Ducati Skyhook suspension with 200 mm of wheel travel), and VHC (vehicle hold control, a first for Ducati).

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro comes in three colors (Ducati Red, Phantom Grey and Star White Silk), but further personalization is available via the Ducati Performance accessory catalogue by Touratech, including the four Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban packages.
