Eddie Jordan Reveals Stefan GP, Villeneuve Will Compete in 2010

Former Grand Prix team owner Eddie Jordan revealed that he has some valid information that Stefan GP will be on the grid of the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix, the opening round of the 2010 Formula One season. And that's not the only news provided by the Irishman, as he made it very clear that one of the Serbian team's drivers for the 2010 season will by Canadian Jacques Villeneuve.

My understanding is that they will be in Bahrain with Jacques Villeneuve driving,” said the BBC pundit.

According to some media reports, the 1997 F1 champion already visited the Cologne headquarters of the Serbian team to proceed to a seat fitting with the Stefan 01 – formerly known as the Toyota TF110 – and is set to being confirmed by Stefan GP in due time. He will therefore join Kazuki Nakajima in the team's lineup, before the team receives its official entry in the 2010 F1 championship.

Jordan further revealed that Stefan GP's spot in the 2010 F1 series will be the one currently held by US Grand Prix Engineering, whose entry will soon be revoked by the FIA. Following FIA's Charlie Whiting recently visiting USF1's Charlotte base, it has emerged that the ruling body has already decided to revoke the entry, only is yet to publicly announce it.

Another piece of information emerged on the topic is that YouTube's Chad Hurley, former backer of US F1, is likely to switch his sponsorship to Stefan GP, in order to help the Serbian outfit complete the development of their second car for 2010.

After the team recently called off its test debut due to a lack of tires, it is rumored that the real reason for the cancellation was because it has not yet fully paid Toyota and completed the build of a second car,” added a report from the GMM news agency, hinting that Stefan GP still lack the finance to do a complete F1 season with 2 valid cars.
