ECU remaps always come with a set of numbers that try to explain the benefits brought by the change, but the real-world corespondent of that sometimes remains a mystery. Well, that’s why we have videos like the one below, which showcase the exact difference between stock and remapped.
The clip shows an APR Stage I ECU upgrade for the Audi RS7’s 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine. We are shown an overlapping image of the stock and custom dashboard instruments in order to see the exact difference. This is a 0 to 140 MPH (km/h) run, which was done using 93 octane fuel.
The traction limits the gap between the two at first, but notice how the difference on the speedo increases as the speed rises. Since this is a Stage I development, APR promises “factory-like smoothness and drivability”.
As for the aforementioned on-paper specs, the stock RS7 motor delivers 560 HP and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm). APR Stage I brings the unit to 674 HP and 700 lb-ft (950 Nm) on 93 octane fuel. Using 100 octane race fuel, the powerplant is taken to 728 HP and 744 lb-ft (1,009 Nm).
