Ecclestone Warns Boring F1 Is Not Over

Following the last couple of Grands Prix, the “boring” claims that have been going around in the media after the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix were put to rest. And that's because rain came in an spiced thing up, causing some major disorders in the field either through racing incidents (Australia) or through qualifying (Malaysia).

Bernie Ecclestone was quite aware of that and insisted that the teams should work together to ensure a more spectacular formula this year. Consequently, he met with the team principals prior to the Malaysian race at Sepang and discussed this topic fully with the members of the FOTA.

“Don't be fooled. We have been lucky with the rain. We have got to do something. For the first time the teams have realized that they have to do something about it. We don't need reverse grids, we just need more overtaking,” said Ecclestone in a recent interview with The Telegraph.

Although he has been the supporter of some interesting measures to spice things up in the series recently – creating shortcuts that drivers should activate a number of times during a race is one example – Ecclestone insisted that the teams should look to aerodynamics to improve the sport.

“Make the front wing smaller and get rid of the double diffuser,” was Ecclestone's advice to the teams, according to the aforementioned source.

The 79-year old Brit was one of the few people not to get all excited about the incredible Australian Grand Prix 2 weekends ago, a race which some publications named “the greatest of the last decade.”
