Ecclestone to Be Replaced as F1 Boss?

Are Bernie Ecclestone's days at the helm of Formula 1 numbered? If we are to trust the latest media reports in Great Britain, we would at least be entitled to out share of doubts on whether the 80-year old Englishman will continue to head the F1 business for owners CVC or the latter is searching for a new manager of the series.

And it's not rocket science to figure out where all this started from, especially since Sky News reported late last month that the CVC and the F1 holding company Delta Topco have launched an internal investigation regarding the takeover of Formula 's commercial rights 5 years ago, following the now known Gerhard Gribkowsky corruption affair.

At the time, it was alleged that the firm responsible with the investigation was asked to report back to the CVC in two weeks time. While obviously in the dark about the findings of the investigations, we're now being given a hint on CVC's future plans in regards to the management of Formula 1.

But enough beating around the bush! According to Sky's business editor Mark Kleinman, is seems that some high-profiled figures of the business world have already been contacted by the CVC “about a senior role at the helm” of F1, the most important name on that list being Sir Stuart Rose, the former executive chairman of British retailer Marks and Spencer.

Additionally, “a number of other senior businesspeople” were apparently approached by the two companies for a non-executive chairmanship role, but none of them were available for comment.

Talking about the situation he's in right now, Ecclestone told the media a few weeks back that “I've been advised not to talk to anyone about it.
