Ecclestone Fancies Father-In-Law Role for Vettel

Bernie Ecclestone's adoration for the newly crowned world champion of Formula One Sebastian Vettel knows few limits. And marriage is not one of them. According to the 80-year old Englisman, he would gladly become Vettel's father-in-law, should that happen in the future.

As you all know, the Formula 1 supremo – who is now tied up in a bit of a controversy regarding the selling of F1's commercial rights saga some years back – has two daughters, namely Petra (22) and Tamara (26). The bad news is that both of them reportedly have boyfriends.

In addition, Sebastian Vettel is currently in a long-term relationship with student Hanna Prater, whom he met back when he was studying at a school in Heppenheim, his native town.

Nevertheless, talking about the prospect of having one of his daughters marry an F1 racer, Ecclestone admitted that he would want that driver to be 23-year old Vettel.

He (Vettel) would be a good son-in-law. He's funny, normal, he has his goals and is working hard to reach them. I like him very much,” said Ecclestone in an interview with Germany's Bild-Zeitung newspaper. “I wouldn't mind it at all. He should give it a try and ask,” he joked afterwards.

Ecclestone recently bought a couple of houses for Petra and Tamara (a former presenter of Sky Sports Italia's coverage of the 2009 Formula 1 season) in London. According to media reports, the whole thing cost the F1 chief executive some $176 million. Tamara's new residence will be the Kensington Palace Gardens, while Petra has settled for an eight-bedroom Sloane House in Chelsea.
