Ecclestone Explains Pro-Hitler Comments, Appologizes to Jewish People

Following the controversy of his pro-Hitler comments the other day, Formula One boss felt obliged to give some further clarification concerning his interview in London's Times newspaper. Being now very close to a worldwide conflict with Jewish groups, the 78-year old Brit insisted that his words were misinterpreted by the media.

With the British media leading him to the verge of disaster, Ecclestone turned to the German journalists to explain himself. Talking to Germany's Bild newspaper, the Formula One boss insisted there was nothing wrong with his comments.

“All this is a big misunderstanding. In the interview we were talking about structures and that it can sometimes be good to act and make strong decisions without reservation,” Ecclestone is quoted as saying to the aforementioned publication.

“I wasn't using Hitler as a positive example, but pointing out that before his dreadful crimes he worked successfully against unemployment and economic problems. It was never my intention to hurt the feelings of any community. Many people in my closest circle of friends are Jewish. Anyone who knows me knows that I would never attack a minority,” added the F1 supremo.

In the same interview, Ecclestone seemed pretty admiring of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein also, as he pointed out “he was the only one who could control that country.” In addition, he revealed he did not agree with the UK's military position in The War Against Terror, as a backer for the US. Those comments are yet to be retracted by the F1 boss.
