Erik Buell Racing is debuting the production of their newest bike, the 1190RX. The road ahead of EBR in 2014 is going to be a tough one, as the American manufacturer plans an entry in the World Superbike series, and this means a lot of bikes produced prior to WSBK homologation.
That is, 125 units before the series kicks off (23 February at Phillips Island) and 1000 before the seasons ends on 2 November (TBC). As an intermediate phase, half-year must also see at least 500 EBR 1190RX units manufactured.
Even though EBR has secured the support of Indian manufacturer Hero MotoCorp with a minority participation, the goal is still an ambitious one. 120 workers will be in charge of delivering the 1190RX in sufficient quantities, and the first ones are expected to be ready in early February.
Erik Buell seems quite enthusiastic, as 13 of the 19 bikes Hero will brings to the New Delhi show have something Buell in them. Even more, he says that the annual production capacity is around 3,000 units, but with the expansion to Europe and hero's help, he dreams of making 15,000 bike a year in the not-so-distant future.
We now wait and see. And count...
