eBay Find: Distorted Porsche 917 Replica

In case you haven’t heard about the Porsche 917, which is highly unlikely, all you need to know is that it’s one of Stuttgart’s most successful racing cars. Built in several versions, the 917 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in the early 1970s, as well as the 1973 Can-Am season, when Mark Donohue shattered all competition.

Extremely valuable nowadays, because of its racing record and scarcity, the Porsche 917 is not the type of vehicle you’ll find listed on e-Bay. However, some replicas are known to surface on the auction website once in a while, and we weren’t surprised when we found another one.

Listed as a 1967 model for reasons beyond our comprehension (the real 917 was introduced in 1969), the replica looks rather malformed and sports a weird combination of parts, ranging from a Chevy LT1 V8 engine with 400 HP and a three-speed automatic transmission to 17-inch Fuchs wheels.

The owner says the vehicle, which doesn’t have an existing warranty, is “titled as a 1967 Porsche 912 clear in my name”. Bidding is at $13,100 right now (Reserve not met), with four days to go.
