Early Dainese D-Air Street Test

Remember when we used to report on the imminence of a wide spreading of motorcycle-specific airbag systems from motorcycle gear manufacturers such as Dainese? Well, things are going the right way, especially as recent crashes in the two-wheeled road racing world showed exceptional results in protecting the riders, even if we're referring to Marquez and Lorenzo in MotoGP.
Dainese has begun a long-term partnership with BMW Motorrad for developing a range of personal airbag systems for street use. The first ADAC-sanctioned tests have confirmed the initial claims that the Dainese D-Air Street system can actually inflate in just 45 milliseconds, adding to the solid hopes for a complete solution for the near future.

Today we're bringing you one of the early tests of the D-Air Street system, showing in slow-motion how the airbag inflates well before the rider's torso impacts the very motorbike, the vehicle in front and before any possible significant hit could cause injuries.

If this technology comes with a decent price, we might be looking at the very future of personal rider safety.
