E46 BMW M3 Has Ridiculous Nurburgring Crash, Gets Trashed

The E46 generation of the BMW M3 is praised for many reasons, one of which has to do with its forgiving chassis. Nevertheless, there's only so much the Bavarian machine can do to protect itself from the one behind the wheel, as the Nurburgring crash we're here to show you demonstrates.

This accident took place during a public session held earlier this month and saw the senior M3 getting seriously damaged.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page allows us to notice the errors of the driver - it looks like the man pushed the car hard in the second half of the bend and his behavior was even less helpful once the rear end stepped out.

The driver didn't show any trace of countersteering, displaying the typical panic reaction of an untrained hooner: once the car started rotating, the stepped on the brakes, which only amplified the spin.

The oversteer caused the poor M3 to go into the guardrail nose-first, with the vehicle taking serious damage.

Engaging in a Nurburgring Touristenfharten (Tourist Days) adventure means there's a chance your car won't make it from Bridge to Gantry (the TF layout of the track) in one piece. And there are some rules that allow you to get your giggles while seriously reducing the risk of kissing the guardrail.

The idea is to match your pace to your manhandling skills, as well as to your Ring layout knowledge. And while those who are unaware of the track's configuration might tell you to simply keep the electronic nannies on, you won't be able to follow this advice forever.

You see the Nordschleife packs plenty of bumps, which will confuse the electronics and will cause the car to cut power, while also seriously wearing out the brake pads.

However, even after following the first two steps mentioned above, one should never push his or her machine to the absolute limit. And that's because the infamous German circuit can always deliver surprises such as a fluid spill. Frankly, this is the worse thing that can happen to you while out there on the track and yet we can't say it is a rare phenomenon.
