Until 2013, the performance arm of Mercedes-Benz was known around the automotive world encompassing the "brawler in a suit" idea on four wheels.
Ever since the early 1970s, AMG used to take a comfortable and elegant-looking Mercedes-Benz, shoehorn a hand-built monster in place of the original, beef up the suspension and the brakes and poof! There appeared a German muscle car.

One of the AMG notorious trademarks was also their models' tail-happiness, which appeared naturally in almost every rear-wheel driven V8 sedan coming out of their Affalterbach Frankenstein laboratories.

This year, something happened to them, because an unprecedented 4Matic all-wheel drive offensive has started, especially on the US shores.

To put it into context, starting with 2013, every E 63 AMG, CLS 63 AMG and S 63 AMG sold in America is delivered in standard with all-wheel drive.

That goes for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG S-Model Wagon as well, which has now become a true competitor (some would say even slayer) for the Audi RS6 Avant.

With 585 hp (577 bhp) and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque on tap from a twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter engine that sounds almost as good as the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8, it's no wonder that the peeps from Auto Blog were so ecstatic about driving it on the Willow Springs circuit.
