With the Mercedes-Benz E-Class having received what is arguably the most expensive mid-cycle facelift in history, as German reports talked about over one billion Euros being invested for the revamp of the entire E-Class family, the AMG models were also revamped in a pretty spectacular fashion.
The “normal” E 63 AMG got its power bumped to 557 hp and 720 Nm (531 lb ft) of torque, while the newly-released E 63 AMG S-Model took it ever further, with no less than 585 hp and a massive 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque.

Paired with an AMG-tuned 4Matic all-wheel drive system, which is optional in Europe, standard in the US and sadly not available in right hand drive countries, the E 63 AMG in both standard and S-Model guise can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 and 3.6 seconds, respectively.

Despite those being supercar-level acceleration times, there are tuners out there who always think that more is better, no matter the circumstance.

Among those nutters we find the American tuning specialists from AMS Performance, who recently completed a new ECU tuning file for the 2014+ E 63 AMG in both regular and S-Model guise, taking their power levels to truly stratospheric levels.

Using a stock E 63 AMG non-S Model to see the before and after benefits of their Alpha Calibration tune, they managed to squeeze no less than 700 hp and a staggering 1,125 Nm (830 lb ft) of torque from the twin-turbocharged M157 V8.

While that sounds completely amazing considering we're talking about a simple ECU recalibration, what is even more amazing is the fact that AMS Performance claims that their stock E 63 AMG non-S Model was pushing 598 hp and 780 Nm (576 lb ft) of torque instead of 557 hp and 720 Nm (531 lb ft) of torque.

In other words, this is the second time we hear about Mercedes-Benz understating the power of the M157 engine in the US, something which is slowly developing into a pattern.
