The more you use a motorcycle tire, the more it tends to lose its performance. It’s logic. However, Dunlop released a new model called the Sportmax Roadsmart III and says it will retain its properties for a longer period.
The Roadsmart III motorcycle tires feature wear-resistant compounds along with an exclusive MT Multi-Tread design that binds a high-mileage compound to the center and a high-adhesion compound to the lateral flanks for high grip in corners.

Both front and rear tires also include a new resin that increases grip in wet conditions. Rider fatigue is decreased with the new sidewall construction that helps provide superior shock absorption.

Along with the higher performance over the life of the tire, Dunlop engineers managed to increase the mileage as well. Independent tests on a 2016 BMW R 1200 RT showed the tires could hold up correctly up to 12,000 miles (19,312 km), which is 3,000 miles (4,828 km) more than the well-known Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT.

“While some high-mileage tires may start out with light, linear steering and stability under braking, they become heavier steering, less linear and less trustworthy as the miles roll up and the tire profile changes with wear,” Dunlop explains. “Additionally, compliance often suffers dramatically as some tires wear—not the Roadsmart III. Engineers placed a priority on even wear to maintain light steering, consistent braking and handling, and excellent ride quality over the long life of the tires.”

The overall construction of the Roadsmart III achieves consistency in very specific areas, and is designed to work on everything from middle-weight sport bikes for riders looking for more mileage, to big powerful performance touring machines.

The new tires are already available at select distributors with starting prices of around £100 (€116/$126 at current exchange rates).
