It really annoys me when I have to write about idiot riders, but since impartiality must be served, here we are, with another “how not to” lesson. Not sure if it’s only me, or such mindless riders are becoming more and more common. Or maybe it’s just the plain fact that more and more such footage emerges in the social media…
Fact is, you’re looking at sheer mindlessness in action. Yes, I know there will be a lot of riders who would disagree with me and reply that the biker was not at fault. Sorry to say it, but he was… very at fault. The fact that some other motorist might also be not that smart or polite and get caught in the middle of the intersection DOES happen. Everyday. And this doesn’t mean one has to accelerate like a moron and crash into them like an even bigger moron.
Yes, the driver moved, yes, maybe he just didn’t look to see you throttling away, but the rider had no excuses, absolutely none. Nada. Yes, he had a green traffic light which allowed him to drive on, but he should have been only a bit smarter, polite and concerned with his own well-being and safety such as to approach the stuck cars with caution.
He’s no fire truck or ambulance speeding to the rescue to have everyone making way in front of him. He just made the stupidest decision any rider could ever make: assume that he owned the street and since the green light lit up, he was the mighty king of the road. Unfortunately, he only proved he’s a knob, and also wrecked his bike.
Frankly, if I was the account manager for his insurance company I guess I’d have all the reasons in the world to deny paying for the damage. Just don’t act like this, please.
