Aaah, the Nurburgring, the one place where every BMW fanatic wants to go at least once. The Green Hell as none other than Nikki Lauda called it, is one incredibly hard track to master. It’s not just its length that makes it so but also various elevation changes, the tight corners and long straights.
That’s right, did you think that a long straight is the only thing one can ask for on a track? Along with high speeds and great power comes great responsibility and the need for beefier brakes! If you don’t know your car and when to brake (and how hard) you could very well get in trouble, real quick (pun very much intended).
The poor guy driving this Austin Yellow BMW M4 in the video below had to learn about the Nurburgring and its perils the hard way. As you can see from the video below, he carried way too much speed into that corner and ended up throwing his rear end out and eventually swerving into the guard rail, where the front fascia of his car got squashed.
Considering the fact that the M4 is one of the few sports cars out there that are still equipped with an old school mechanical hand brake, that fact alone could’ve saved him and his car. Of course, it’s easy for me to sit here and simply talk about the situation at hand and how it could’ve been saved, right? What would you have done in his situation?
