Ducati announces the all-new Multistrada Link app that promises better integration between the bike and the riders' smartphones. Only a few of us are motorcycle racers and can have access to certain ride data recorded by the bikes' sensors. Even though the Multistrada Link app does not turn anyone into a factory racer, it promises neat results.
The app communicates with the Multistrada 1200S and creates what is described as a digital ecosystem that can integrate the vehicle, smartphone, GPS navigation devices and helmets.
Ducati promises that the Multistrada Link will offer so much more than what the usual apps can deliver now. Unlike in other cases, the app will receive data from the bike directly via the Controller Area Network (CAN), instead of relying on some of the sensors built into the phone.
The bike and the smartphone will record multiple variables before, during and after the ride and relay them to the app using Bluetooth connectivity.
Maximum and real-time lean angles will be displayed on the phone, as well as maximums and averages for power delivery and speed, reaching targets and general figures on the distance covered, number of routes, as well as fuel level, riding mode usage percentages, and many more.
So far, the app is only available for iOS devices, but an Android version is expected to be released very soon. The Multistrada Link app is free and it can represent a neat way to enhance the experience riders have while aboard their 1200S bikes.
