There are rather few encounters between motorcycles and various animals which end good for the bikes and bikers. Whether we're talking about dogs, sheep or birds, it's an almost sure recipe for a crash.
This Ducati Streetfighter is no exception to the rule, as the apparently speeding rider hits a dog which inadvertently crosses the street. The result is a serious wipeout, with the Ducati sliding away one the asphalt, luckily without hitting any other vehicles or stationary obstacles. The rider looks a bit bashed but he's up on two feet and we can presume he sustained only minor injuries.
As for running into animals on the road, some say that it's better to keep the bike straight and a very firm grip on the handlebar, even without braking. It may be so, because applying the front brakes makes the bike dive a bit, in this case in a way "under" the obstacle.
With the throttle open, the front wheel gets lighter and increases the chances to remain upright, as skimpy as they may be.
