Ducati Starts Monster 1100 S Customization Contest

Motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has just announced a brand new contest concerning its Monster 1100 S bike, inviting no less than fifty-eight dealerships in the United States and Canada to build a customized model. Ducati says the new contest is actually its unique way to honor the showroom premiere of the forthcoming Monster 1100 S due to launch in the first months of 2009.

“In order to launch the Monster 1100 S to the public in real monster style, Ducati has launched a dealer contest to see who can build the best custom Monster. As the original custom-ready naked bike, the new Monster 1100 S is ready for modifications, and the gloves are coming off in a contest to build the best,” the motorcycle manufacturer said in a statement released to the press.

Ducati's authorized dealerships will have two weeks to customize the Monster, with all aftermarket models to be displayed at the National Premiere weekend held on January 9-10th. “The weekend will celebrate the individuality and personal expression inspired by Ducati's original naked bike and highlight the vast potential of the Monster 1100 S,” Ducati explained.

The Monster 1100 S comes with a 1078cc engine which develops a maximum power of 95 hp at 7500 rpm combined with a torque of 75.9 lb-ft at 6000 rpm. Available in multiple colors, the Monster 1100 S is said to be the lightest bike in its class, with a total weight of 168 kg.

“The Monster 1100 S is a pure concentrate of lightness, power, design and exclusivity. The exceptional handling, combined with legendary torque from the Ducati Desmo engine, results in a pure, adrenalin-filled ride,” the motorcycle manufacturer wrote on its official website.
