Things are on the move with the new Ducati Scrambler, as the beast was spotted once more on the open roads. Still, the Scrambler will most likely not be made available this year, and the best-case scenario sees the bike introduced at the 2014 EICMA, at best, as a 2015 model.
Just like the other times when the Italians took the Scrambler out for a ride, the bike is covered in duct tape, making it hard to get all the details of the prototype. However, we seem to be able to tell certain things from the spy shot.

First of all, it looks like Ducati is really aimed at launching a true all-rounder bike, as the generous suspensions let us guess. The bars are high and ample, providing a relaxed riding position and excellent maneuverability on rough terrain, making it almost effortless for riders to steer and benefit from the bike’s presumed agility.

The swingarm seems also new, with a dash of “banana” styling and the free space under the seat being a nice anticipation for quite a lot of rear wheel travel. The exhaust is one rather puzzling detail, as it has nothing of the traditional styling of the scrambler machines, that is the horizontally-mounted, tall headers. If anything, the exhaust is a downscaled Diavel-look-alike , and this might have a negative impact over the ground clearance and terrainability.

At the heart of the bike and under the rather small fuel tank, it looks like the Ducati Scrambler prototype uses the old air-cooled Monster 796 mill, and this should make it pretty nimble. And despite seeing the Scrambler shod with street tires, we can safely assume it will be offered with a more dual-sport tire choice... and both wheels with spokes, maybe. Finally, if the price will be right, we might see Ducati sales go up thanks to this new machine.
