Ducati Scrambler Canadian Lot Sold Out, Rumor Has It

Alright, we are ready to take this with a grain of salt, but we feel there is at least a dash of truth in this short story. The latest rumors arriving from the Canadian motorcycle market speak about the Scrambler receiving a very warm welcome and being already sold out. The Scrambler was initially scheduled to reach Canadian dealerships, but we can’t tell exactly how many Ducatis have actually reached the showrooms, or dealer warehouses, for what’s worth.

The info arrives via CMG who is not exactly into pranks, and the Canadian bike market info we get from them is usually accurate. They claim that a source inside Ducati revealed that whatever Scramblers made it in Canada are already accounted for and on their way to their new owners. The story also mentions that the earliest new lot of Scramblers would arrive somewhere around July.

Again we are a bit skeptical when it comes to this, because we know that Ducati is trying really hard to improve their yearly sales. So seeing Ducati putting buyers in Canada on hold while knowing about the strong demand would not be exactly the best response to the customers.

Of course, some say that Ducati will charge into the markets which see the biggest sales, playing it hard on the novelty factor and preferring to sell as many Scramblers as possible really fast, and putting secondary markets well… second on the list. We have also seen KTM doing this with the 390 Duke, as Indian customers who had pre-ordered the bike being forced to wait excessively because the biggest part of the production was heading for other markets.

A third possibility cannot be ruled out, and it sees this “sold out thing” only being a marketing trick aimed at boosting the desirability the Scrambler already comes with in the eyes and minds of a certain demographic. It’s been done before in multiple other situations. Obviously not the best practice in sales, but a harmless (non-deceiving) strategy which turns out strong results. Come spring, come further news!
