The launch of Ducati’s flaghsip bike, the 1199 Panigale has apparently spruced up the maker’s US sales considerably, despite production setbacks caused by the recent earthquakes that hit the North of Italy. It is an extremely important and long-awaited superbike for both Ducati and enthusiasts the world over.
It is only natural that the launch of the 192 hp Panigale would increase sales for Ducati, but, with 1,782 units sold in May and 4,844 sold so far this year, their expectations have surely been surpassed.

This marks a 19% increase in sales over 2011 and a whopping 98% increase over 2010, and it’s not only customers who are pleased with the new bike, but also Cristiano Silei, Ducati Vice President of Global Sales and CEO of Ducati North America, who said "This fantastic result confirms the customer’s enthusiasm for our brand that has led us to double our sales in just 24 months [...] The increasing appeal of our expanding product line, our experience-based marketing strategy and the strengthening of our dealer network, represent the key building blocks that will continue to fuel our future growth.”

Ducati North America’s best selling models, the Panigale and the Streetfighter 848 are cited as being the main sellers, with the Panigale definitely racking up the most sales of the two.
