2013 MotoGP: Ducati Is a Bit Faster at Sepang, Pedrosa Still Reigning

A bit of good news for the Ducati fans: the bikes have been a bit faster during the first day of the second test ride at Sepang, Malaysia, the same stage they failed miserably earlier this year.

Dovizioso managed to reduce the undignifying 2-second gap to 1.2s: still too far behind to claim anything, but sensibly faster at any rate. Nicky Hayden was around 1.5s slower than the first rider, and maybe this trend will eventually lift a bit the morale in the Borgo Panigale paddocks. We surely hope it does. It is however, surprising how both Ducatis are so close together since the beginning of the 2013 testing...

As for the fastest riders, things have changed very little form the initial Sepang races: Dani Pedrosa and his Repsol Honda machine are comfortably ahead, even with the Spaniard riding a bit slower than his previous performance of 2m0s100. Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo was close on his trails, followed by a very fast Marc Marquez. Stefan Bradl of LCR Honda managed to sneak ahead of Rossi, sending the Doctor in the 5th position.

In the CRT segment, Aleix Espargaro and Aprilia ART have been the fastest, proving once more that Aprilia will most likely have a great racing season. Times and standings after the jump.
