Ducati's round-the-world Globetrotter 90th adventure is entering its last stage. Having started in Borgo Panigale on July 4th, the trip on the Multistrada 1200 Enduro will reach the final destination on December 15th, stopping at the Italian manufacturer's headquarters in Bologna.
The seventh and final rider that will be at the helm of the Multistrada is Germany's Timo Schafer, who began his trip from the Isle of Man on December 5th. During the last leg of the journey, Schafer will cover the remaining 2000 km out of the 30,000 km of riding to some of the symbolic sites that have contributed to the first 90 years of Ducati's history.
The rider will first stop in the city of Canterbury to meet with Paul Smart, who starred in what Ducati considers the most significant win of its history - the 1972 Imola 200 Miles. Paul achieved 1st place on a standard 750 GT, while Bruno Spaggiari crossed the line second on a similar bike.
Next stop is Belgium, where Schafer will visit the Spa-Francorchamps where Alberto Gandossi won in 1958 riding the 125 Desmo. The journey will continue on to Germany with a visit to the Audi Museum in Ingolstadt that will house the "More Than Red - Passione Ducati" exhibition until April 30th, 2017.
Lastly, he will head to Italy at Monza, where long ago on November 30th, 1958, Ducati Siluro set 44 world speed records on a 100cc motorcycle. After this, Schäfer will head to Florence to see Giuliano Maoggi, born in 1926 and a living legend for Ducati. In 1956, Maoggi won the 4th Motogiro d’Italia on the Gran Sport 100, known as the Marianna.
