There's some gossip in the interwebs that Ducati could come up with a scrambler-type motorcycle soon, possibly at the EICMA towards the end of the year. We're ever so glad to see Borgo Panigale developing more street motorcycles, even though some are not faring as good as they could or should have.
Rumors also say that Ducati might start considering a more budget-friendly approach for emerging markets, slowly expanding their line-up with motorcycles which are more than a one-trick pony and still affordable. We all have to admit that Ducati motorcycles are anything but affordable in such emerging markets.

As for the power units, some say that the new scrambler could be powered by a new liquid -cooled engine powering the Hypermotard, and possibly sharing some of its architecture, at least as a basis. Others believe the machine will retain the air-cooled engine design, possibly with a single-cylinder architecture somewhere above the half-liter mark.

Truth be told, we'd like to see a brawny liquid-cooled “go anywhere” machine from Ducati, and if it will also not be aimed at leaving a burning hole in the pockets, Borgo Panigale might make a great move, given their expansion plans. Eavesdropping for Asphalt and Rubber.
