Ducati CEO Gabriele del Torchio Takes Delivery of a New CLS 63 AMG

Though it might seem a bit awkward that Nicky Hayden took delivery of his own CLS 63 AMG ahead of the company CEO, so it happens that Ducati’s Gabriele del Torchio has just received his new company car, weeks after the Ducati MotoGP works rider did.The President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. will thus drive a CLS 63 AMG with AMG Performance package, in designo zircon red.

We’ll remind you that Hayden went for the special limited-series "Edition One" model.

"I'm already looking forward to having fun at the wheel of the new CLS 63 AMG, which to me really seems to offer the perfect synthesis of power, elegance and efficiency. We are working hard on the implementation of the first joint projects between AMG and Ducati," stated Gabriele del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A.

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has recently partnered with AMG, in a move that will focus around joint marketing and sponsoring activities. For example, AMG will support the Ducati MotoGP Team as the Official Car Partner from 2011.

"The cooperation agreement signed with Ducati at the Los Angeles Show in November 2010 is already bearing fruit - as you can see from the joint activities that are now getting under way. We can't wait to hear Gabriele del Torchio's thoughts on the new CLS 63 AMG," said Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

The CLS 63 AMG is powered by the AMG 5.5-liter V8 engine that delivers 557 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Nm (590 lb.ft.), along with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. The vehicle's fuel consumption of 9.9 liters per 100 km, according to NEDC, represents an improvement of 32 percent over the previous model - making this power pack the most efficient high-performance V8 engine in the world.
