We kind of saw this one coming for some time now, but things went official: Ducati and Alstare have reached a mutual agreement to put an end to their collaboration in World Superbike. While their contract was supposed to last through 2014, it looks like both parties knew there was no future in this.
Alstare's boss Francis Batta was not exactly shy to express his frustration for not seeing any results in WSBK, other than a pole position in Australia. And with some of his partners and sponsors also canceling their support, things seemed to only get worse.
Forced to bring more money into the WSBK operation, while good results were still a distant dream, Batta reportedly asked Ducati to allow Alstare to develop the Panigale RS13.
Apparently, Ducati denied Batta's request, saying that it was most unlikely that privateer could have the necessary resources to carry out such an endeavor. Whether they were true or not, we'll never find out, at least not with Alstare and Ducati in the same garage.
Alstare might strike a deal with Aprilia, whose Gigi Dall'Igna recently became the chief of Ducati Corse, having a free hand on Borgo Panigale's WSBK operatins, too. It is yet unknown who will b Ducati teaming with, as ParkinGO and Feel Racing being rumored to be among the favorites.
