Ducati chose to once more honor the memory of the world's greatest Formula 1 rider of all times, Brazilian Ayrton Senna with a new special, limited and exclusive model of the 1199 Panigale.
Unveiled at the Sao Paulo Motorcycle Show, the 1199 Panigale S (obviously for Senna) will only be available in Brazil, so unless you've got good friends there to at least try and buy one for you, this is quite an exclusive machine.
Long-time friend with Ducati, Ayrton Senna is celebrated by this new special edition motorcycle, 20 years after his tragic death. According to Ducati, "the first tribute to Senna was a 916SP finished in grey with red wheels, the 916 Senna I, of which only 300 were produced, with two more versions, the 916 Senna II and 916 Senna III built in 1997 and 1998. All three versions of the Ducati 916 Senna model were limited editions and remain highly sought-after by collectors world-wide."
The 1199 Panigale S Senna was designed in collaboration with, and with approval from the Senna Foundation, and only 161 bikes will be manufactured.
June 2014 will see Ducati offering these bikes, together with a racing exhaust system and serial number engraved on the top clamp. Bike 01/161 will on display at Ducati's stand at the Two Wheels Motorcycle Show in Sao Paulo, together with one of the original Ducati 916 Senna machines. No price was announced.
