Are you the proud owner of a 2013-2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale or 1199 Panigale S? Good for you, but you should definitely pay your dealer a visit and ask him to fix the left handlebar switch the National Highway traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) mentions in the 14V166000 recall.
Ducati North America is recalling at least 2,083 Panigale and Panigale S to investigate a problem which might cause the left handlebar switchgear to malfunction or fail completely, leaving riders without the possibility to use the horn, instrument panel display, high beam and right turn signals, thus increasing the risk of a crash and injuries.

The switch may stop receiving power from its dashboard connector and inadvertently stop functioning. In case this happens, the affected 2012-2013 Panigale machines fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 123, "Motorcycle Controls and Displays” and are not allowed on public roads.

Ducati is notifying customers and the dealers will install an additional wiring harness free of charge. The recall is expected to start May 16, but customer can get in touch with Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 and mention the internal recall number RCL-14-001. Bikes sold in Canada are also affected. Check the VIN section in the attached PDF for more details or contact Ducati.
