Dual Can-Am Recalls for Spyder Fire Hazard and Children ATV Speed Issues

It's a new fire hazard-related recall for the Can-Am Spyder RT reverse trikes. This time, Can-Am issued a recall for almost 7,100 Spyder RT vehicles from the 2013 model year for pretty much the same problems older models experienced.

At the same time, Can-Am will re-notify the customers who own model year 2008 through 2012, which have been recalled in 2012. No less than 103 complaints have been investigated. The NHTSA says "Bombardier agreed to address rider burns, fuel boiling due to inadequate heat management and excessive fuel vapor emissions," according to bikernet.

All the parts needed to fix these issues are now stocked or on their way to the dealers, and the first appointments are due to start next week. Two fires were reported after the investigation started last year.

Can-Am DS 70 and DS 90 children ATVs may be faster than prescribed and the parking brake might be inadequate

Two Can-Am ATVs destined for young riders may have an issue that allows them to become faster than prescribed for their specific age category. A problem in the DS 70 and DS 90 vehicles, that has so far remained unspecified, may cause these two to travel at speeds exceeding 24 km/h (15 mph), which is the legal limit for the age category they're homologated for.

At the same time, in certain ATVs, the parking brake could also malfunction, potentially leading to increased risk of injury and/or property damage. This safety recall affects 2,385 DS 70 and DS 90 ATVs from the 2008 through 2015 model years.
