Some people take their privacy so seriously they even see unmanned drones where there are none. Or they claim to see them. One Louisiana woman was arrested after shooting at a plane and later lying to the cops that she thought it was a “hobbyist’s drone.”
Stacy, go home, you’re drunk. Actually, according to the police records obtained by The Smoking Gun, Stacy Nguyen Rodgers was at home when this happened. A cellphone video recorded by one of her neighbors showed a visibly manned aircraft flying over her house and her firing 3 shots at it.
Luckily, Stacy was also very drunk, so not one of those shots hit the target. The 40-year-old woman then told the cops that she thought the plane was a drone, even though you could see with the naked eye it was an actual aircraft.
“When investigators questioned Rodgers, she confessed to shooting at ‘the drone’ with a ‘revolver style pistol’ that was confiscated by police officers,” the publication says. “Cops noted that Rodgers was intoxicated when booked into the local jail” in Monroe, Louisiana.
The neighbor turned the video over to the police and it will most likely be used against the woman in court. It shows her saying “He’s coming back to taunt us” about the pilot of the plane, and referencing “her shooting at the airplane.” She totally knew the plane wasn’t a drone.
The police investigation revealed that the aircraft was actually spraying for mosquitoes, as several “mosquito pools” in the area had tested positive for the West Nile virus. Talk about gratitude for doing this woman a service.
Rodgers was charged with illegal use of a weapon, which is a felony, and released the next day on a $500 bond. Her mugshot, which is also attached to this article, is one for the Hall of Fame of mugshots.
