Drunk Russian Driver Rear-Ends Innocent Rider

With all the things becoming relative when getting up on two wheels and going out on the streets, one thing remains certain: there is no perfect way to defend yourself from drunk motorists. Their “creativity” surpasses imagination, and even decent riders who are watching out for themselves are in peril. Below you can watch a spectacular display of recklessness, which fortunately ended without severe injuries, even though we’ve seen similar accidents leading to gruesome results.
I am sure that most of you know the story only too well, even though they’ve been rear-ended by sober, yet distracted drivers. Unfortunately, in most of the cases, the riders don’t have enough time to react, even though they can sometimes see the car approaching from behind. The first (and the natural) reaction is to believe that the other vehicle would slow down and stop in time, and by the time a rider figures out this is not going to happen, it’s usually much too late.

To understand how dangerous these fellows are, you can try to imagine how does a motorcycle launched by such a crash look like when hitting unsuspecting pedestrian crossing the street. In this case, there actually were 2 people on the pedestrian crossing, but it looks like the bike missed them closely after being projected into the intersection.

The rider is alright, and has not sustained serious injuries, even though he was battered up and will need some time until all the aches go away. The bike is most likely totaled, with a bent swingarm and most likely a bent frame (or swingarm joint), and it’s now time for some court action. Again, a casual ride which can turn into a nightmare in just seconds, and all because of drunk drivers. Riding gear and a helmet have been a very good idea.
