One driver crashed his car in Aurora, Colorado in the early hours of Monday, and the impact was so bad it virtually ripped the car in 2. The driver still tried to escape on foot, though.
Most drivers would think being involved in such a serious crash is not a good time to try and flee the cops, but not this dude. 4 CBS Denver says that the crash not only ripped the car in half, but also ejected the driver.

To his amazing good luck, he wasn’t injured, so he decided to use said good luck to try and evade the police. He had been drinking before he got behind the wheel and was also speeding, sources close to the police reveal for the media outlet. He had good reason not to want to be found by the cops.

“Officers rushed to the scene of the high-speed crash involving one vehicle in the northbound lanes of I-225 at Alameda just before 2 a.m. The car was ripped in half and the driver ejected from the vehicle.
The driver survived the crash and ran away from the scene. Police arrested the driver a short time later,”
the report says.

The Aurora police say that no one else was injured in what they describe as a “completely preventable crash.” Take the drunk-driving and the speeding out of the equation, and this could have been a regular night for officers who had to respond to the scene of the crash.

The report doesn’t mention anything about the identity of the driver or what charges he’s facing, presumably because this is still an ongoing investigation. Still, given the kind of blind, dumb luck he had to survive such a nasty crash, he might not want to push it by doing something stupid or reckless – again. Or ever, for safe measure.
