It’s stupid and very dangerous to drink and drive, and it’s many times more so when you drink, drive and pack your car with minors who don’t really have a say in it.
It happened in Birmingham a few days ago, close to midnight, when a man packed his 5-seat Citroen Xsara Picasso with 9 other people, 7 of whom were children. The good news is that no one was seriously injured in the accident, though the car was totaled.

The driver crashed the Citroen into 2 parked cars on Kettlehouse Road, Birmingham Mail reports. By the time first responders arrived on the scene, many of the children had been taken out of the wreck by bystanders.

“It was my best mate who got four of them out,”
one eyewitness says for the publication. “One three-year-old wedged between the seat and one of the oldest lads was heard saying quite a few times 'I told them I didn't want to get in'.”

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Police confirms the news, adding that there were no serious injuries despite the severity of the crash.

“Three children were taken to hospital with minor injuries and have since been released and safeguarded,” the spokesperson says in a statement. “A 38-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of drink driving has been released pending further investigation.”

As per the publication, at least a couple of women have taken to Facebook to say that their children had been in the car at the time of the crash, expressing their rage over what happened and relief that the kids weren’t seriously harmed. However, there’s no mention on how the children ended up in the driver’s company or how he came to offer them a ride at past 11 o’clock at night after he’d been drinking.
