If you’re not into progressive rock or metal, then probably the name of Neil Peart is not going to ring any bells, and you can either head over to iTunes or Youtube to listen to some Peart drumming or just click on the red X in the corner of the screen. However, if the name Rush puts a nice understanding smile on your face, then you should definitely read on.
Neil Peart is the drummer and lyricist of world-famous progressive band Rush. Hailing from Canada, Peart is accompanied by equally iconic guitarist Alex Lifeson and vocalist and bass player Geddy Lee. Anyway, Peart is the only one in Rush who writes and performs music, rides motorcycles AND writes books on motorcycle adventures.

Far and Near: On Days Like These is Neil Peart’s new book, a follow-up of his 2011 edition of Far and Away: A Prize Every Time. If you’re expecting another how-to motorcycle bible wannabe, you’ll be disappointed, because Peart’s Far and Near: On Days Like These only carries one the heritage of its predecessor.

You’ll only be shown the world through Peart’s eyes as he travels around: a collection of stories intertwined with personal insights into his own mind, stories he tells as if recollecting his experiences for an old friend.

Peart is an avid motorcyclist, and even rides his bike between shows when touring with Rush and the weather doesn’t make these rides a two-wheeled hell. Far and Near: On Days Like These is available via the Canadian Amazon website for less than $21, while Neil’s first book can be also had, but at a discount price a nickel under $10.

Enjoy one of Rush’s live pieces and mind Neil Peart’s awesome steampunk drum set!
