Driving Through the Valley Fire in California Looks Like a Post-apocalyptic Movie

At the beginning of September, California faced one of the worst fires ever recorded, torching no less than 76,067 acres of forest so far. To some people, it may not seem like a big deal but living in the Golden State and near one of these calamities will definitely change your perspective.
Maybe that’s what made us share this video after all: the chance to show the world what it’s really like. The clip comes courtesy of LiveLeak and shows a brave (or crazy) man driving through one of the forest fires, probably rushing to get to safety.

All around him you can see post-apocalyptic scenes that remind us more of a Michael Bay movie than reality. I guess after some point you just stop believing that something like this can actually happen and you start thinking that it must all be just a well-made movie.

Well, these are no computer generated images folks, this is the real deal and this way maybe you’ll think twice before ignoring what happens around you.

This kind of thing is more often in California than you might think. With the draught the state has been dealing with recently, things got out of hand lately. This is actually the third-most destructive wildfire on record, after the 1991 Tunnel fire and the 2003 Cedar fire.

As a matter of fact, the fire is still going as we speak, even though it was contained to around 10 percent of its initial size. However, with temperatures on the rise again and gusting winds announced by meteorologists around the state, things could get hot once again.

The Valley fire started on September 12 in southern Lake County and so far it has burned toward several towns, forcing residents to leave. 1,910 structures were destroyed so far while the death toll rose to four victims.
