Driving the Predecessor of the Bugatti Veyron Is Not Exactly What You’d Expect

It’s rather funny how history tends to repeat itself. Back in the 1990s, there were three iconic supercars that dominated the world. One of them was the Bugatti EB110 SuperSport, and it was majestic.
An evolution of the original EB110, the SuperSport or SS for short, was fitted with a new ECU, bigger injectors and a freer flowing exhaust, all of those chipping in to provide a bit more oomph for a car that wrote history.

As a matter of fact, this was the predecessor of the legendary Veyron that is still writing history as we speak but what amazes us is how history tends to repeat itself, as we told you.

That’s because the EB110 was rather unlucky back in the day, and the reason for that has a name: McLaren. The Brits stole the Bugatti’s 15 minutes of fame with their F1 model, and nothing was ever the same.

Today, we have a close scenario unfolding as we speak, with the McLaren P1 hypercar now overshadowing the Bugatti Veyron, a model that is soon to be replaced by a new one. After ten years in production, it’s time to take a bow, and bring out a powertrain that’s more in tune with the times.

The McLaren’s edge over the Bugatti is that it’s a hybrid, a feat that brings a small advantage in performance as well as a better image in front of its prospective clients, as it poses as a more eco-friendly choice.

But how was this legend of the 1990s like to manhandle? Well, Chris Harris jumped to the chance of driving one before being sent off to the auction block, at an event hosted by RM Auctions on September 7, in London.

From what we can gather, he rather liked the experience of driving a quad-cam V12 with 610 HP... Check him out and tell us what you think!
