Driving a Ford Model T Is Harder than You Think

There are over 100 years since the first Ford Model T rolled off the assembly line to motorize the world and even shape it. We owe so much to this very car we definitely need to revisit the subject every time we get the chance to.

Without Henry Ford’s idea to create an efficient assembly line by assigning each worker one single task we wouldn’t probably be driving now all these fancy cars simply because cars would have been produced in limited numbers by hand, the automakers wouldn’t have had extra income to invest into new tech and so on.

Taking a look at your car now and comparing it to the Tin Lizzie will truly show you how much vehicles have change in a century. From a horseless carriage with a puny engine to a solid, enclosed and appealing car with electrically assisted systems, powerful and efficient engines, grippy wheels, advanced suspension and many other amenities to provide comfort and entertainment.

Changes

Nothing seems to evoke the old days of motoring now, not even the way you drive your car. Yes, back in the day, the only thing that was working like today was the steering wheel. Everything else was a mess and trying to drive such a car at the moment would put you in a difficult situation.

The Ford Model T had in fact three pedals on the floor and a gear lever, but everything was working in a different way. To get the bigger picture, the throttle was placed on the steering column and one of the three pedals was actually reverse.

Confused? Check out XCar’s video on the subject here try imagine doing all those maneuvers in today’s traffic.
