Pokemon Go, the game that keeps on giving accidents and incidents to report in our “U-Turn” section, has “helped” generate a new article.
This time, the subject is a 19-year-old male driver, who crashed his car into a school while playing Pokemon Go at the wheel. It all happened in Melbourne, around 6.50 pm local time, on Thursday, 28 July 2016. According to Australia’s The Age, the unnamed man crashed into St Francis Xavier College in Berwick.

The accident happened after the driver overshot a roundabout and smashed through a fence. Fortunately, nobody was in the portable classroom of the Catholic secondary college, so nobody sustained injuries because of this person’s irresponsible behavior.

The 19-year-old will be charged following yesterday's exhibit of careless driving, and we can only hope that the driver's penalty will set an example for others.

Considering this incident is not the first of its kind, and that people have a tendency to believe that severe things cannot happen to them until they do, we expect distracted drivers and pedestrians to be involved in other accidents while using the popular game.

At this point, we feel that the subject of using a mobile phone behind the wheel for whatever purpose has been exhausted, but cannot comprehend how do people keep doing it.

So, let us detail underline the facts here - using a mobile phone while driving is dangerous. It goes without question that a distracted driver is a danger to themselves and other road users, and playing a game is one of the dumbest things one can do while driving.

People must understand that driving is not a right, but a privilege, which comes with massive responsibility. Modern cars do make it easy to drive without too much physical effort, but your mind must be focused on the task at hand, even if you tend to daydream in other social circumstances.

Driving is hazardous, because it can lead to fatal accidents, and those that cause them can end up imprisoned for many years if they kill others because of distracted driving. Do not become a statistic (or worse, a killer) - leave your phone alone while driving.
