One woman in east China started feeling very drowsy after she took some flu medication, but she didn’t realize it until it was too late and she had caused damage to 9 cars on a busy highway.
The good news is that no one was injured in the crash. The bad news is that a dog riding in one of the cars she hit was ejected from the vehicle and died.

The crash is still under investigation and the woman could be facing charges, the Daily Mail reports. Though it happened earlier this month, it’s just now that police have released footage of the accident and more details on it. You can see the video at the bottom of the page as well.

The woman was driving her purple Mercedes-Benz on a busy highway in Hefei, Anhui, when she lost control of the car and smashed through the barrier. She went into the opposite lane and struck several cars, zig-zagging between them until she hit the barrier for the second time and coming to a complete halt against a concrete wall.

By looking at the video, you could swear the driver is really intoxicated or not a driver at all. However, the woman told the cops that she wasn’t drunk, but she did take some flu medicine which may have impaired her ability at the wheel.

“I wasn't drinking,” the driver told the police at the scene. “I mistook the accelerator for the brake.”

To that, we’d say “honest mistake,” but we all know it’s not. Depending on what the investigation finds pertaining to the circumstances of the crash, the woman could be facing prison time or a fine. And one heck of an insurance premium on her next car, should she decide to get another one.
