Drive a Tesla Roadster at the 2009 Motorexpo

To be honest, we would have enjoyed even more to see the new Model S in London, but we will have to make do with the Roadster. Tesla Motors has confirmed that the company will bring the Roadster to the Canary Wharf event but that's not all. The Roadster can be taken for a spin, as it will be made available for test drives from June 8 to 14.

We are extremely excited to be bringing the Roadster to Canary Wharf and we greatly look forward to letting people finally experience how good electric cars can really be,” Don Cochrane, Tesla Motors representative said.

Of course, the organizers of the event share the enthusiasm. After all, during the same month, Tesla will open its first store in London. “We are pleased to be welcoming Tesla Motors, as a new exhibitor, to the 2009 Canary Wharf London Motorexpo and I am sure that their Roadster will be a big hit with our ever growing audience,” Graeme Carver, Motorexpo managing director said.

As for the newcomer in the Tesla garage, the Model S, it is doing remarkably well, considering that it is still some two years away from the official market release. The S just hit another milestone today, as it reached the 1,000 orders threshold. Tesla Motors is, obviously, continuing to market the highway-worthy electric vehicle.

"The Model S is a better value than much cheaper conventional cars. Despite the enormous environmental benefits, lower total cost of ownership will soon become the primary motivation for consumers to evolve from gas guzzlers to EVs," Tesla CEO Elon Musk said earlier today.
