Most passionate drivers enjoy drifts as it’s a way of expressing themselves, their inner madness, all with the help of their cars. Unfortunately for Saudi Arabian automobile lovers, this guilty pleasure is a now a criminal offense.
It seems that the government has decided to shake things up and do something about the increasing number of road accidents. Therefore, officials have prepared a number of fines depending on the number of times people are caught drifting, varying between SR10,000 and SR40,00. Also, if they are caught doing this more than once, they will even get their car repossessed starting with three months and going as far as five years.

Unfortunately, this isn’t all as, besides the fines and the impounding of the car, they can also get locked up for 6-12 months. Drifters won’t be the only ones on the government’s radar, passengers and even spectators can also get fined. Not in such a harsh manner, but still quite serious.

Still, Arabian folks don’t need panic just yet as this will only happen if they drift on public roads. So, all one needs to do is take the car to a track or have an organized and sanctioned even.
