There are plenty of things which could go wrong when attempting a drag race in a vehicle which couldn’t be road legal even if you lived in China (where, apparently you can take whatever you like out onto the road). However, what happens in this particular video, could only be anticipated about one or two seconds before the... incident.
So there’s this drag racing event in Germany, and a modified Volkswagen Golf MK1 lines up against what appears to be an old Opel/Vauxhall Corsa/Nova which by the looks of the burnout is quite substantially modified. Both cars do one before the race, but the VW driver overdoes the reversing bit and ploughs straight into a Honda CR-X, damaging both cars pretty seriously - the CR-X driver was caught in the driver’s door opening, but was OK in the end.
