We're not 100% happy with the fact that Golf R models sold in America only come with 256 hp and you can't turn the electronic nannies off, but it's a car that almost never made it across the Ocean.
The uber-Golf deserves praise, not only for looking like a little monster, but also because it has more power than you'd be led to believe. The official figures would tell you the it's got 256 horsepower from a 2.0 TSI engine. Not bad, but not a sportscar.
However, this video from Road Test TV shows the Golf R doing a very surprising 1/4 mile pass in 13.2 seconds. There's a rumor out there that German carmakers measure their output as if it were in thin air at high altitude. At sea level, you're going to have much more!
Unfortunately, its aversely, a Camaro V6 with 323 hp, fails to get a good launch and does a on-wheel spin. Who says all-wheel drive differentials aren't useful?
