Drag Race: Tuned Volvo V40 Kills a BMW Z3 M Coupe

While Nurburgring racing is all but over due to slippery conditions, up north in Scandinavia, the folks are still playing with their Volvos and Saabs, finding the right setup for their small turbo engines. You'd think there's no reason to take them seriously, but it's all fun and games until a BMW gets a bloody nose.

This Volvo S40 looks like it's from the early 90s, but it still manages to show a BMW how it's done. Granted, the Z3 M was never a particularly fast car, but it's got more cylinders and a better badge.

The M Coupe is powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six engine, but even though it's been supercharged it is no match for the S40's T4 turbo, and it soon turns into a one-pony race.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
